Common Household Pests & Nuisance Wildlife
Kansas City Wildlife Removal Services
Trutech Wildlife Service has been helping both homeowners and commercial businesses protect property and public health from nuisance wildlife for decades. With a focus on the best customer experience possible, we work efficiently to protect properties from unwelcome wildlife.
Here’s what to expect when working with Trutech:
Step 1: Inspection
When a Trutech technician arrives at your home, we will start by asking questions about your experience with the nuisance wildlife at hand.
Once we have a firm grasp on the issues facing the property owner, a thorough inspection of the interior and exterior of the home begins. This includes looking at the attic, crawlspace, roof, and any possible entry points.
Since each species and home is different, the length of the inspection can vary. It can take between 30 minutes to 3 hours to accurately evaluate the extent of the wildlife nuisance issue.
Step 2: Wildlife Control
With the results of the inspection, we share our findings with you. And share how we will solve the problem for you.
Although each wildlife control plan is unique to the home, it may include live trapping, direct capture, one-way doors, or deterrents. Before any work begins, we make sure that you are comfortable with the steps being taken to resolve the nuisance wildlife issue.
Step 3: Animal Trapping and Removal
Once you approve the plan, we will schedule a time to start the wildlife removal work. After the humane animal removal has taken place, we will repair any damage caused by the critter. Additionally, we will apply sanitizing and ectoparasite agents to the affected areas. Once the plan is executed, your home will be returned to its normal condition.
Step 4: Home Exclusions for Pest Control
Wildlife removal is just one part of the plan. Many plans include wildlife control measures to prevent any future problems. This is often completed by installing a full home exclusion. The goal is to create physical barriers to prevent animals from entering your home in the future.
A few possible exclusion techniques include gable vents, ridge vents, crawlspace vents, roof returns, and plumbing stacks. With the appropriate exclusions in place, you can rest easy knowing that a long-term solution is in place to protect your home from nuisance wildlife.
Guarantee and Warranty
Once installed, Trutech offers a one-year warranty on full home exclusions. Plus, there is a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you aren’t satisfied with the initial work, Trutech will send out a service manager to inspect the work completed and make any necessary adjustments.

Pest Control & Wildlife Removal Services
Raccoon Removal
Raccoons live in every part of Kansas City and tend to stay near a reliable source of water. Of all the animals that have adapted to city life, raccoons might be the most destructive.
Raccoons can wreak havoc trying to gain entry to your home and cause significant damage creating a den in your attic. They can cause a mess of garbage and destroy home gardens and birdfeeders.
Female raccoons look for safe places to have their young, and your attic makes a great den. In Kansas, young are born in April or May and are weaned in August. Nocturnal animals, you are most likely to hear raccoon noises in your attic staring in the spring and continuing through the summer.
Live trapping is the most common removal technique. Occasionally, scented repellents work but results vary. Raccoons need a hole no bigger than a grapefruit. During a whole home exclusion, we seal all current and strengthen any potential entry holes. Once raccoons get in, minor repairs will not keep them from tearing in again.
Gophers & Moles
Proximity to the Missouri River makes Kansas City an ideal habitat for the plains pocket gopher and moles.
You won’t see a gopher or mole, but there will be plenty of evidence of an infestation. Gophers create large mounds of dirt that plug the hole. Volcano-shaped molehills have no plug. Their preferred diet is pieces of plants accessible underground.
Gopher removal is most effective during spring and fall when gophers are most active near the surface. Activity is usually indicated by fresh mounds of soil. Time, energy, and resources can be wasted by trying to control gophers and moles. Baiting and trapping are the two most practical and efficient methods.
Squirrel Removal
Squirrels can cause considerable damage to your home. The gray squirrel, the fox squirrel, and the southern flying squirrel are all native to Missouri. Tree squirrels mate in mid-to late winter and again in early summer.
Squirrels can impact your quality of life. They are active from dawn to dusk. The most common sign of a squirrel problem is noise. Squirrels are active during the day so you might hear squealing, running, or gnawing early in the morning.
Squirrels’ teeth never stop growing so they constantly gnaw damaging attic insulation, fraying electrical wire, and destroying house structures. Tree squirrels will build nests out of available materials. Typical squirrel nests are made of leaves, grass, and sticks, but inside your home squirrels will use cardboard, paper, or insulation.
To effectively get rid of squirrels, the wildlife technician will employ a variety of tactics such as live trapping, one-way doors, deterrents, and direct capture. After removal, you need to seal all entry points to keep them out.
Rodent Pest Control
Kansas City rats are getting bigger, and people are noticing more rat infestations happening. Rodent infestation in Kansas City can come from packrats (woodrats), Norway rats, roof rats, and the common house mouse. All these rodents can cause significant damage to your home and impact your health.
Proper rodent control requires population control. Because rats can up to six litters a year consisting of eight to eighteen pups, effective rodent control requires proper rodent population control and prevention.
Typically, rat and mouse trapping takes five to fourteen days. Effective rodent control requires whole home exclusions. Mice only need a hole the size of a dime, and they can gnaw through most material to get back into your home. Trutech also offers a recurring rodent control protection plan.
Bat Removal
There are fourteen species of bats in Missouri. The Big Brown Bat, Cave Myotis, Eastern Red Bat, Hoary Bat, Mexican Free-tail bat, and the Tri-Colored bat all have ranges that include Missouri. Eight of the fourteen are Missouri Species of Conservation Concern.
In Missouri, bats are one of the principal reservoirs of rabies. Bats usually do not display any obvious signs of rabies so if you find a bat in your home, do not touch it! Fortunately bats almost never approach humans.
Bats in the attic, or elsewhere in your home, can be a particular nuisance. Their droppings can negatively affect your health and the health of your family. Bat guano is the surest sign you have bats and the greatest risk to your health. A large accumulation of guano can lead to structural issues and spread two fungal diseases.
Fumigants, repellents, and traps are not practical means for bat control. The most effective means of bat removal is a one-way valve and exclusions. We seal all potential bat entry points. If pups are present, we wait to install the bat valve until they can fly (usually in late summer).
Bird Control
Sparrows, starlings, and pigeons cause the most conflicts between birds and people. In Kansas City, you might also experience woodpeckers, crows, and blackbirds as a nuisance.
Effective bird control depends on the type of bird, property (commercial vs residential), and location. The Migratory Bird Act does not include sparrows, starlings, and pigeons.
In general, bird trapping can be difficult and not effective. The more effective method of control is to make roosts inhabitable. This does not harm the birds. We also clean and sanitize after a bird problem. Bird droppings can spread histoplasmosis. Bird nests can block gutters, vents, and chimneys.

Frequently Asked Questions
There is no one-size-fits-all solution; each job requires a custom approach. We inspect every home and build a custom plan to resolve any wildlife problems. We use a variety of techniques including cage traps, direct capture, one-way valves, and deterrents. Exclusion techniques are the most effective way to get rid of animals.
We provide customized solutions to each individual customer so that we may solve the issue as quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively as possible. The size of the house, type of animal, number of nuisance animals, and length of time of infestation affect the estimated price of wildlife removal.
An estimate may change based on the amount of animal activity or work needed to be done. All estimates are finalized with an exact price before any work begins.
Our goal is to remove any wildlife as humanely as possible — often that means catching and releasing the animal.
Trutech® does not hire subcontractors for animal removal services. We employ expert technicians who are provided ongoing education and training in all aspects of animal control and removal. Many of our technicians hold degrees in Wildlife Biology, Entomology (insects), Ornithology (birds) or Herpetology (reptiles), some with Masters degrees in their specialty field.
Yes! We are licensed and insured.
We start by first removing the wildlife on your property, and cleaning up any damage. From there we’ll work with you to create a customized prevention plan so you won’t have the same issue again.
Typically an animal dies in your home because it became trapped in a hard-to-reach and hidden area. Our expert technicians have the experience and knowledge to find it and then safely remove the carcass from your home.
Our Wildlife Technicians use a pet-safe odor eliminator made of natural organisms and enzymes that consume decaying organic odor-causing matter, eliminating the source of the lingering odor. We use aerosols, oxidizing agents, foggers, and disinfectants with germicides to deodorize until nature completes this task for you.
You should consider a full home exclusion after the smell has been neutralized. Nuisance wildlife found its way into your house once. That entrance leaves your home vulnerable to future animal infestations. Full home exclusions are the most effective form of wildlife control.
